Glenburgie Cars Ltd (GBC) is a family-run business based outside the town of Forres, to the East of Inverness, North Scotland.
GBC is owned by husband and wife team Liam and Eileen Wood. Both Liam and Eileen have at least 20 years' experience in the motoring industry and both have had their successes as rally car owner/drivers over the years.
At Glenburgie Cars Ltd, we will do our utmost to help you with your motoring requirements, be it used car sales, hire vehicles, servicing, maintenance, or more specialist work with performance cars.

Liam Wood
Liam
is a local lad, having been brought up in Forres. He served his time at
Dickson's who were the Fiat dealers at the time and gained his City &
Guilds' qualification in Light Body Vehicle Repairs. After working at
another local garage he decided to take the plunge and start his own
business and Glenburgie Cars Ltd was born.
Before Liam started on his own and he had "spare time" , he had a successful motor sport career, his first event was the Durris hill climb in his mrk1 Ford Fiesta and he was hooked. As his confidence gained so did the specification of his Fiesta, ending up with an impressive 175bhp and they became a formidable pair. He achieved numerous class wins, and gained the title of 3rd Fastest Road Car, only beaten by two Catherhams with over 200bhp.
Liam progressed onto rallying and showed a natural talent for gravel as well as tarmac, again collecting more trophies for the cabinet.
However, Liam's best achievement in motor sport was meeting his future wife Eileen !!!
Eileen Wood
Eileen
was brought up in the Scottish Borders and after being a spectator at
rallies from a very young age with her father, developed a passion for
all things mechanical. At school an assessment was done to help pupils
find their idea career, it was decided that her ideal career would be a
Tractor mechanic!
Fortunately, she did not go that route but started in the motor trade at Halfords, then moved to "Motor Sport Wheels" in Glasgow where she worked for 10 years as assistant manager. Luckily, staying at home, all her wages could be spent on cars and her first event was an Autocross in a borrowed Talbot Sunbeam. Loving the thrill of competing, a Vauxhall Nova was hastily purchased.
Eileen competed in events all over Scotland and being a female in the sport led to lots of publicity. Through various magazine and newspaper articles she gained sponsorship from Castrol Oils. She went on to win various class awards, also achieving the title of Ladies Speed Champion in her Vauxhall Chevette in 2001 and again in 2002 in a Subaru Impreza built by Liam .
Her lowest point was crashing her Nova into a tree at Forrestburn and the video has a regular showing on "You've been framed!"
Glenburgie Cars
The business is constantly developing and has changed greatly from when it started. The business was originally run from the house, but a count of 53 cars parked outside the house one day in a quiet cul de sac meant that enough was enough. After searching for the ideal premises they found the current site at Easter Lawrenceton. The building was a blank canvas and allowed for the installation of five ramps, parts shelving and an office to their best advantage. The garage is not a main street site but the savings in rent and rates allows GBC to keep their prices sensible - as Liam says "fancy showrooms fancy prices!"
Through working in Malaysia, Liam made many good contacts and began importing vehicles from Japan. Every month more Imprezas, Evos, Pajeros and many others would arrive. The business mainly revolved around the import side of thing and GBC was one of the largest UK breakers of Imprezas, sending parts all over the UK.
Liam realised that this business would only last so long so continued to develop the local business, carrying out servicing, MOTs and repairs on all types of vehicles.
The business has evolved and GBC now find that Parts and Impreza sales have declined but because they have built up a good reputation for being Subaru specialists, all models from Imprezas to Forresters can be spotted in the workshop. "Glenburgie" carry all the Subaru specialist tools and are happy changing anything from a bulb to an engine!
Vehicle Sales
The Car Sales side of the business has always worked well as GBC will not sell a car to a customer that the customer doesn't consider ideal. If none of the cars available on the forecourt are suitable GBC will source a car, thereby giving the customer the options that come with a new car and allowing them to choose a colour and specification they like. The customer has the added security that Glenburgie will service the car, including changing the timing belt, and put 12 months MOT on the car before allowing it to be collected.
Practical Hire
Practical Car and Van rental were looking for a new franchisee for the Forres and Nairn district and they decided this would be a great add-on to the business. They have been supplying rental vehicles since June 2008 and currently have a fleet of 25 vehicles ranging from small cars to Luton vans.
Logistics
With their Mercedes Truck, Glenburgie Cars Ltd can transport vehicles all over the UK and will deliver vehicles straight to your door.
What's next ?!
Porsche - this all started from an Aberdeen customer who allowed us to look after his beloved Subaru 22b. Said customer now owns a Porsche which needed the clutch replacing, GBC did the job in their usual helpful and professional manner and before long word got around that "Glenburgie" were the people for Porsche.
Our thanks
We would like to thank all our customers past and present and look forward to developing the business further - despite the fact that we have been trading for ten years now there are still people in the local area that have not heard of us!
We have the same approach to all cars and customers; whether you panic every time your car is due its MOT, or if it's your pride and joy that only comes out once a year, we will be fair, professional, polite and provide value for money.
